Which team will win this edition of our annual Ship-IT Day? Let’s have a look at this year’s projects that will compete for the gold medal on Friday 19th September.
Ship-IT Day is all about collaboration and innovation. On this day, multidisciplinary ACA teams set up camp in our offices and use their knowledge and expertise to come up with innovative solutions for internal or external challenges. Each team has one day to come up with a proof of concept (POC).
At the end of the day, they present their POC. And then it's time for the moment supreme: our colleagues cast their vote to determine the winner.
Ship-IT Day gives our ACA team members the chance to work on innovative ideas that could potentially grow into concrete solutions. It is a unique opportunity to build knowledge and explore new possibilities, away from daily projects. This stimulates innovation within the company and gives creative ideas the space to flourish.
Ok, the stage is set. Now let’s dive into the competing projects. These are the teams that will take up the gloves on Friday 19th September. 🙌
We want to develop a central mobile app that makes managing youth infrastructure -
and especially youth centers (jeugdhuis in Dutch) - a lot easier. From insurance policies to inventory management: let’s simplify things!
💼 Customer: Departement Cultuur Jeugd & Media
By generating more code based on OpenAPI specification, we can deliver features faster. This helps tackle various pain points: generating Java clients, spring rest controllers, permission checks…
💼 Customer: IDEWE
Idewe is currently using a very old RTF template to create about 7000 quotations/year. This is a very inefficient process with a lot of back-and-forth between local Idewe representatives and the central office.
We want to make this process more efficient and attractive.
💼 Customer: IDEWE
In order to obtain reimbursement of invoices in the context of a home loan, invoices must be submitted. These are then approved and processed. This requires manual processing and verification of the invoices before payment can be made. This process has a long turnaround time and is quite labor-intensive.
We want to change this, and by doing so, improve customer experience.
💼 Customer: VDK Bank
Young people and citizens are in need of an extremely accessible way to ask for help and receive rapid assistance when they feel unsafe. This way the emergency services are informed immediately, potential perpetrators are discouraged and the chance of rapid and life-saving intervention is increased.
We want to think of (digital) concepts that make this possible.
💼 Customer: s-Lim
A potential use case for AI is to process all pictures taken during un-/loading of containers and trucks with AI. Right now, Katoen Natie has to take 20 pictures per container. This is done manually, which makes it error prone.
We want to develop an app that checks whether each photo is of sufficient quality, and additional checks can be performed.
💼 Customer: Katoen Natie
Our customer would like to expand the functionality of its Kube platform. Can we make it possible to automate the search for relevant documents within het Belgisch Staatsblad, where laws, royal decrees, decrees, ordinances, and official notices are officially published?
We want to make it easier to search for data on the UWP. This will enable employees who are less familiar with SPARQL to perform searches more quickly.
Our goal is to set up an AI Agent, MCP Server, and Client for querying Linked Data output ports on the UWP.
💼 Customer: publiq
Our goal is to develop an AI chatbot based on a Confluence knowledge base, to support service desk agents. This would speed up the process of answering questions from citizens, and improve knowledge management.
💼 Customer: Agentschap Natuur & Bos
… stay tuned! We will announce the winner at the end of Friday 19th September. Good luck to all teams and a big thank you to our clients for making this possible.
